my favorite passage in Tolstoy's "Anna Karenina" is when Levin went out with the peasants to mow hay. It was hard then, and just as hard now, despite the machinery! I like this image--it breaks the rules because it's centered, but the alignment is fascinating, and accentuated by the cloudless sky
