Towers of Power
Along The Santa Fe Trail
Near Red Bridge in a park that used to be a farm. These type of water towers were used on the B-52 bomber airfields of the The Strategic Air Command during the earlier years of The Cold War. As time went on, airplanes became outdated and the use of these towers as Soviet targeting markers more apparent. As missile silos replaced the airfields, their conversion to less obvious landmarks meant moving these towers. The government placed them in civilian populated areas, replacing outdated wooden water towers on farms. The fact that these things were zeroed in on by Russian atomic weapons, along with silos which were of course, also prominent features on farms, meant those places became nuclear targets. Long ago, the value of any human life, friend or foe, meant little compared to perpetuating the war machine. Remember that.
