8th Street N/R Mosaic Detail
I will, I will, I will get the perfect closeup shot of one of these subway station mosaics. This is not it.
It's a tough assignment, because the lighting is always godawful, the subject is often dingy, and -- let's face it -- these things are only supposed to look good from a distance.
Nevertheless, I can't help but be drawn to the endless combinations of color and shape just hanging out there on the wall, waiting to be photographed as I wait for a train. I'm sure that if I take hundreds of shots, one of them will jump out and say, "Pick me for your retrospective!"
Or not. At least it's something to do while I wait.
