Sunday was a strange day. We were supposed to participate in the Naval School Regata, but the weather was lousy so I decided to photograph the boats mounting one of the buoys, conveniently placed near Flamengo Park, close to home. As always I got distracted by the Nature in the park and found this fungus, which reminded me of the Giant Puffballs I'd only ever seen in photos and drawings in books on fungi. We ended up eating this as an appetizer for dinner on Sunday. The fact that I'm alive to post this shows that I think we identified it correctly ;-) Note that on the Internet we couldn't find any register of this fungus being found in Brazil.
