Well the end of 2005 is fast approaching, Christmas is only two days away, and so t'is a time to be merry... and merry I have been.

As mentioned in my last log (many moons ago) I had a trip to Budapest and Switzerland planned. Well these have come and gone and the pictures have been uploaded. So now it's time to add a little context...

Firstly, Budapest.

This was definitely one of the highlights of my year. Craig and I flew out from Manchester on the Friday morning and spend three fantastic days roaming the streets (and restaurants) of Buda and Pest. It is a charming city, not as pretty as Prague - but less commercial. The restaurants were absolutely fantastic and Craig and I were very lucky in our choices. Everywhere we went there seemed to be a reserved table with our names on it! Just one of those times where everything seems to fit into place.

Major highlights - supping cocktails in a chique little bar, walking around the castle district, being serenaded by a violinist, stumbling upon an amazing little restaurant by the cathedral, having autumn leaf fights in the park and enjoying a room with a view over the Danube. A brilliant weekend all round, and one I hope will be repeated in the future!

And then there was Switzerland...

This too rates as one of the better weekends to date. Me, Craig, and a group of friends from work made our way from Manchester to Verbier on the Thursday night.

We couldn't have been more lucky with the weather. The snow was freshly laid, and the skies blue. I absolutely loved being back on the slopes, and got back into the swing of things pretty quickly (though I did have some monumental stacks - resulting in loss of skiis and poles, along with some colourful bruises)! Craig managed to top everyone though, by knocking himself out while learning to snowboard!

Despite the falls and frostbite, the trip certainly whetted my appetite for winter sports, and I look forward to another trip later in the season (fingers crossed).

And now it is Christmas! So the good times continue. Craig and I kicked off the festivities with a pre-Christmas dinner last Sunday - complete with tree, baked potatoes, crackers, cranberry sauce, presents, candy and mulled wine. On Wednesday we had friends around from work to continue the celebrations... The mince pies were hot, the mulled wine was flowing and Christmas tunes on full volume. Defintely helped ignite the festive feeling!

And this evening I'm off back home to spend a week with my lovely family and boyfriend which will be good fun. It's looking to be a fun christmas!

So... to all who read this I wish you a very Merry Christmas and a fantastic start to 2006! xxx
