the island was owned by a spanish baron........hence the name...........

it is still privately owned..........now by the baron's daughter, who is married with one of the most famous spanish singers ever.............raphael..................i think he is kind of famous among the spanish population living in the states..............

the island was declared a nature reserve long ago so it cannot be developed or urbanised..............
