above is portman beach...........formerly the sea water went as far as the group of white houses that can be seen on the right.................shaping up a stunning bay...............at that time portman was a traditional fishing village.................

that gorgeous bay disappeared little by little because of the mining industry....................there was a very important mining complex scattered all around the mountains that protect the village..............they just got rid of their waste (every kind of rock and tailings) by throwing it into the water..............until the beach just disappeared............gone forever...................that process took years and years but nobody seemed to care...........nobody but some villagers who belonged to fishermen families.....................

that industry does not exist any more and there is a project to recover the beach.............so expensive that probably it will never be carried out.......................

now the village is infamous all around the region because of its particular situation and also for its famous caldero rice................yummy............!!!

the thumb above is a part of the coastline which is protected and whose access is restricted.............its name is calblanque.............as i kid, i used to go there a lot in summer........when access was unrestricted................
