i am not sure we have things like this in the states

re birthday flowers: it was really strange this year... G/ always gets me flowers and we always have a special breakfast on each of our birthdays...
this year he forgot about both!
eventually i reminded him and he felt so bad
we had the breakfast and he got me flowers the next day
but it was very odd
