what is?

re:
main image
just a metaphor
by gata on April 18, 2007
i don't like it when i have to explain images
but while the previous image
speaks volumes without words
this one does not

this is my corner
it's a neighborhood that is here
but is going there

in the foreground,
that graphic on the wall depicts 2 tombstones
in honor of 2 who died

that green container collects discarded clothes
they are destined for other countries
i don't think they are given away
i think they are actually sold
so i am not sure how i feel about that green thing

there are a lot of "issues" in this community
and ever since i moved here
i've been involved with trying to address them
it's part of the reason i am so exhausted
there are a LOT of issues
and it's a LOT of work

but i have grown from it
and that's my part in helping it to go "there"
down the block
where the trees are

morning dearest
real life calls... today, instead, i am taking the subway.
(not that this means i am not taking risks, but i am about taking risks in other fields anyway)

i'll be back

seeing the thumb i saw the tombstones as feet, hook to my next image. we see what we want to see!

the salvation army container brings me memories.
just before i left holland, i donated all my heavy winter clothes, knowing some others would need them better than me in the tropics. it was a sort of thing that had to be done and i was glad to recycle them, tho i know they;re never really given away. i bought real cool stuff in atlanta in such shops then.

love the perspectives of this image.
it is good to be involved with comunitary work, i think, giving and sharing.
