even though i was an art major, i never painted in college because i didn't think i could draw. i "concentrated" (i ended up in a non-traditional school: you didn't major, you concentrated) in photography and it defined my life for the next 10 years.
after i taught myself to paint, i realized that i wanted to strengthen the underpinnings of my line and i started drawing the figure, it is something that i love to do and i go back to it periodically. i also discovered that i (and anyone else) can draw if one wants to take the time and energy to learn.
and if anyone in the ny area is interested, spring studios is excellent. the models are consistently good, the crowd is very mixed but serious and there is instruction available for those who want it.
