returning
3/27
sometimes i find that when things aren't happening, returning helps. sometimes it means returning to something familiar, sometimes to the last known place it worked, sometimes to the beginning.
over the past week i have spent a lot of time returning a painting to its previous state. today, in the studio, i had to return to devices that i know work for me. the trick here is to be atuned to new ways to use them, to the new paths they might lead to, otherwise you run the risk of painting the same painting, doing the same thing, over and over again.
so i am feeling this sense of returning to what works, to a beginning, to see what happens, to see what's there, to see what will be.
