this curiosity;
a faux construction
made up of real elements:
branches, roses & orchids
all wired together
to make a rather incongruous
and awkward arrangement
turns out to be
an apt metaphor
for our current situation

my family,
in good faith
has met every demand
and expense
to secure for my mother
a place to live
close by to me

now,
at the 11th hour
what seemed to be
a fortuitous situation
has turned into something
as unexpected,
as deceptive
and as tasteless
as this cobbled together invention
