the view from here...agnes martin (wide)
1/4
to be perfectly honest
(and maybe i have said this before)
i don't find the guggenheim nyc
to be a particularly good place
to view contemporary art
at least,
large canvases
and ESPECIALLY not agnes martin
where the lines of the architecture
literally OVERWHELM the lines in her work
(and i am not talking about the curves
i am referring to the mullions between the panes of glass
that are above & behind a large number of the paintings)
i saw the show when it was at the tate modern
and it was infinitely better
(and larger)
still
it had a strong effect on me
this time as well.
