little rest

a pause before starting all over again.

this is a drain for the rain water which is closed by the sand for a long time, so the last rain storm we had, left the streets of Niterói totally flooded.

Messages:

I saw this house the first time last year, visiting my boys at college. The visual effect is incredible, as you turn the corner and see it for the first time. I asked some people about it while I shot and they said they've never seen people go in or out. So I don't know if it's a home or perhaps an office now.

I speak from conjecture rather than fact, because I don't know the exact history of the house and occupants. But it is built of wood, probably ca. 1860, An industrial city grew up around it and gradually declined. So because of it's wooden construction and impractical size (by modern standards), I think it's a miracle that it wasn't demolished or burned down.

I'll add a photo soon of a pre-revolutionary farm house that wasn't so lucky. Too bad you're always digging out! We have beavers here that keep making dams and causing floods. You tear down the dam and they keep rebuilding!
