Thanks very much for your kind comments. The March 5 photos show hoarfrost, ice crystals about 10-15 mm long that form with high humidity and extreme cold. They are delicate and beautiful, and disappear with the first sunlight or even a slight breeze. A fragile, sparkling world that is created in frigid darkness and reveals its beauty for a very short time. I'm embarassed to say that it took me 50 years of life to discover hoarfrost for myself, going out with my camera just before sunrise.
One of the beauties of photography is that whether you capture an image or not, carrying a camera in your hands makes you see the world differently. It sharpens your senses, you are more attuned to light, textures, shapes, colors. You learn the difference between "looking" and "seeing". And you discover beauty in familiar places that are often taken for granted. Like seeing the reflection of windows at the bottom of this image and enjoying the thought of a cool, breezy room!
