first it was the japanese split toe converse
those were a fashion thing

then the nike air rifts
which i thought were a fashion thing
but turned out to be sneakers developed for the olympic kenyan runners
who needed shoes that felt close to running barefoot

and now there are 5 fingers
i love these
they are so much like being barefoot,
that when i am wearing them out on the street
i feel like i am in one of those dreams where you find yourself outside in your underwear
