and while i did have morning glories this color
back then
back there
that's not what this is
and
i don't remember what it is
but
it is unexpected

this plant was bought
after the season was over
it was a runt
like my little peppers
and it is in an extremely shady spot
and yet
it has flourished
and really surpassed all the other plantings on the deck
(my friggin lilac has lost all its leaves!!!

so it is a gift
and a reminder
that beauty comes
from unexpected places
