this was once our corner korean market
which meanta place to get bananas & lemons in a pinch,
last minute yougurt, cookies, and maybe some ginger root
it meant fresh flowers on the corner
and christmas trees in the winter

then they went out of business
and soon after construction began
on what was going to be the first legal weed shop in the hood
(there are plenty of unlicensed ones)

i was totally dismayed when it was revealed that the facade was going to be this impenetrable black reflective glass
dark and foreboding

i was offended that someone would put something so alienating in our community
and i was angry
as the place got closer to opening
it was clear that the owners were open and friendly
and i began to realize
that this was actually someone's idea of beauty
and for them it was a contribution not a detriment

and now,
it looks like this
