at about 10pm
julie came to the group, most of us were sewing fabric to the wings
she stated her dilemma
could the bird actually be finished
in time for the rally the next day?

when she ran down what still needed to be done
it was clear that even if we all could work through the night
it was not possible to finish it
the fact that it was so large that we needed to work outside
and that strong rains were expected that night,
it simply was not going to happen...

accepting this was difficult but necessary
