No estoy acostumbrado a ver
una iglesia sin bancos,
ni acostumbrado a ver
sillas unidas entre sí.

La iglesia está siendo renovada;
quizás retiraron los bancos para restaurarlos,
y estas son las sustituciones temporales.

(I actually wanted to say "chairs cobbled together"
or even "bound together"
not sure if that comes across...
