no, not skins, they are called pellens
they go between the wet sheets of paper
they are stained from all the plant matter i put in the paper
that has bled out
the material is a fiber that is fused, not woven

you don’t need such a large vat for making paper
unless you are producing a lot of work
or working in a large size
which of course they do
in a professional grade studio

no it’s not thick paper,
it is actually super thin
but it is many sheets
piled on top of each other
separated by just one thread
it’s amazing that they can go in a press like that
and not get fused together
