i watched this woman wrap a tree
with these garlands of dried flowers that she had made
when she was done
she emptied the loose petals on the ground
when i went over to shoot them
i found they smelled of patchouli

i don't think it was art
(though it is)
i think it was a devotion


it's strange how long it took me to post this,
it was from sunday
so it was really one of the last images i had taken
but i couldn't see the connection
that part of me just wasn't functioning

i am starting to accept things like that
(my limitations)
