took this yesterday
it's right in the old 'hood
a new thing
something that has changed in this past year since i left
and an odd thing
an unexpected thing
i had photographed this site
while it was under construction,
many times
but i never realized that it would have this open space
clear through from broadway to mercer
it was kind of a shock
and it created a feeling of not belonging anymore
i had moved
and my neighborhood had moved on
become something different
(which is of course one of the reasons i had left,
i didn't like the place it was going)

it was not a bad feeling
but it certainly questioned my sense of reality
or at least caused me to adjust it
