yesterday i made a painting that i have been trying to make for years.

i can't show it to you,
it is too simple
it needs to be seen.

i can't tell you what it is about
because that would reveal too much.

i didn't know it while i was doing it
but as soon as i saw it
i recognized what it was.

it is 10 years of my life
in one 8x8" square
and it proves that if you want something enough
you can find it
and if you try hard enough
you can do it
but you have to believe enough
and
at times
that can be the hardest thing in the world.

and if what i have been through
was necessary to make this one painting
then so be it.


this image has some of the elements,
the color
the juxtaposition
the simplicity
but it doesn't have the emotional impact

i am going to have to take that image
for the project i am working on
i am hoping that won't take another 10 years.
