yes i really am almost done!!!!!!!!
:DDDDDD
this is all that remains:
a 2 1/2 ft square area of things that stump me
much of this has survived previous cleanups,
it just gets put in a box that gets re-examined the next time around
the obvious answer is to throw it out but...
what if i all of a sudden need:
a fan advertising a mortuary provided by the church where my brother and i went to hear gospel music in downtown LA, maybe 10 years ago when he was researching the inspiration for the movie "sister act"
a vintage unopened game of "pin the tail on the donkey" that i bought in a party store in massachusetts with my friend taylor, 25 years ago when we first discovered hello kitty (and i always hated this game; the anticipation of having to play it turned every birthday party into a dreaded event)
a package of 20 22 k gold leaf leaves that seems to only contain one crumbled one
the instructions for my mini tarot deck - oooh, i know where that goes, in the mini tarot card box which for some reason resides in the same place as pencil sharpeners, paper clips and push pins.
a baby announcement for who???
an old classic new yorker cover (must be a collector's item by now)
some old family photos that i rescued from a studio downstairs; family unknown
various watercolors
a caviar tin and a caviar jar
a mac bag (that's mac as in make-up not computers)
a box of b&w postcards printed when i was shooting fashion
a watercolor color chart (since redone)
a painting on a give away sample of some new support that isn't new anymore
a sample of some strange gold flecked textured plexiglass that i would love to have a larger piece of
hmmmmmmmmmmmmmm,
quite possibly you are scratching your head right now and thinking:
"what IS this girl's problem?"
well, in case you didn't know
it's called: disposophobia
and it is the fear of getting rid of stuff
i am actually on the very mild end of the scale
(it is often accompanied by going out and buying lot's of stuff that you already have, which i don't do at all with the exception of art supplies)
but i do consider it to be a bit of an "issue"
i kid you not.
and i also consider all of this stuff to be potent source material
so there's the answer
i clearly am not chucking it.
