i went to the apartment today,
i thought
just to do some quick financial stuff for the lawyer
but
i found i couldn't leave
i found i needed to go through every room
every closet
every nook and cranny
to really understand
what i was up against in terms of packing up
and
to uncover,
while i was alone,
any hidden things
that could throw me for a loop

i did find this in the freezer
it certainly wasn't my mother's
it was probably norma's
and if my mother had been there
we would have laughed about it
