so
it is hard to say
where i was last year
except
that
my mother was on the cusp
between life and death
my brother had just come in
to say good-bye
and for us to be together
at the end

a year ago today...
was it her last day speaking
was it her first day fading
one can't say for sure

what i do know
is that i miss her terribly
and it is time to let go
all over again
