yesterday
it was so warm
(well, not as warm as last year
when it was 70
and i went to the beach)
i went for a ride
to celebrate my mom
and her love of parks
and nature
and spring
and refueling one's soul

as i rounded the bend
and approached the lake
in prospect park
there were geese everywhere
not just in the water
but walking around
as carefree as you please

my mom loved the geese
that visited the pond
that she looked out on
from her bedroom
and her living room
she watched them
reported on them
felt them

and i felt her
as soon as i saw them
