i was so upset last night,
at some point
during the day
while i was out
the last of the swallowtails emerged
and i couldn't find it in the studio,
i was pretty convinced that the cats had gotten it

then just as i was about to go upstairs to bed
i saw it, way up high
in the skylight well

capturing it involved
a long pole,
bringing the huge ladder inside,
and a large wire mesh colander,

i went to bed very relieved.
