i love the weird 'characters' that you can come across at massive urban gatherings..............

this man reminds me of 'the cowboy'..............he used to live on charity...............in the streets of cartagena..............no-one in the city knew anything about his previous life.............just that he came from the north of the region............and that he was around 50 (this we found out in the papers after he was gone)........................

he was always followed by his two dogs...........he pulled a small trolley full of any kinds of stuff........he was a chain smoker, always begging for cigarettes............he had an elegant pose and gait........it goes without saying that he always wore a cowboy hat...........

he passed away four or five winters ago............during an unexpected (and most unusual) cold snap.............

there used to be a pub in the port esplanade and in this pub an entrance way, a roofed corridor actually, where he used to sleep at night............after he left, people started leaving elaborate bouquets and stick notes with words of love and admiration all over the place...........it was weird to see how such a mysterious person was so respected by everybody.............

i remember that juanjo loved to go there as a kid............and listen to the story of this man (it was actually invented by me and it was different every time i told it)...............

now that pub does not exist any more.............the building is being revamped and everything is gone..............

i know i have some pictures of that memorial corner somewhere in my archives.............and i have never posted them..................

i must try and find them.....and pay my respects............to this mysterious man..............
