i often buy potted tulips
after they had bloomed
i used to put the bulbs away
in a dark cool spot
and then forget to plant them
in the fall

after a few years of that,
i tried just sticking them in the ground
and sometimes just the foliage would come back
the next year

this year
outside the door to my studio
i found this
i must have put the bulbs out there
last year and forgot to plant them
this one managed to take root
in the gravel
in very little soil
and with basically no sun
go figure
