~White-sided Dolphins~
by sparkyleigh on November 8, 2003
These guys are about seven feet long (2 ½ metres) and are racing along at 28 knots, over 30 mph. This is a relatively small group; they are seen in the thousands at times. It is somewhat rare to see them this close to the shore in the Pacific Ocean so we are lucky today. They range from Alaska to Baja California. They will come over to moving boats and play in the bow wake, zipping back and forth and under the boat. A group like this can completely disappear in an instant if they choose to.
