Kyoto Station

After eating breakfast at the Yoyogi Center we lugged all our luggage on to crowded trains, and then rode the Shinkansen for a while.
from my notes:
Through the window I can see teal and red and white electrical towers dotting the landscape. On the left side of the tracks are rice fields with some houses, and on the right were lots of little houses, all surrounded by green mountains. I decided that was another place I'd like to live. ;p my throat hurts a little bit... I keep hearing the exact same baby whining noise, but since the baby got off the train already, I guess it's just the train squealing and getting ready to explode. Oooh it is so pretty outside. We are moving heeella fast. When this train stopped at the station, another Shinkansen passed us and totally shook this whole car. It's fun when that happens as you are trying to use the squat toilet. Don't... try it again.
Eventually we arrived at Kyoto Station, went up and down some stairs and stuff, and landed in a huuge mall station. It smelled like delicious tempura everywhere, so... I wanted some! Everyone else stopped at, once again, the first place we saw, which was some ¥300 teensy sandwich place... = not the same as tempura. So I went to look for tempura downstairs, which is where the smell emanated from. I didn't find any, but I did find three mochi, red bean treats, and oDANGO stores all next to each other. How could I resist?
