the trip home is horrendous
at the ixtapa airport it is clear the woman in front of us isn't well either
and all of a sudden she's in a wheelchair
brilliant
10 minutes later,
i have one too

and that's how it goes for the next 14 hours
from wheelchair to any sort of prone position i can manage
whether it's across 2 airplane seats;
my head hanging off g/'s lap
or on the floor of the airport
it doesn't matter
as long as i am not completely upright for more than 20 minutes

(i will say that getting through immigration and customs is a breeze when you are in a wheelchair)

in la i feel awful
i try my brother but can't get through
i decide to press on

we are booked on the late red eye back to ny
that's in 3 hours
i am freezing and sick
there is a plane leaving in ½ hour, but it's booked

all of a sudden as they close the doors to the gate
i remember hearing them do a last call for 5 people on that flight
but i have seen no one show up
we ask again
it's a missed connection
it's a blessing
we are on board
ready to take off

when we get to ny i will have to manage to get home by myself with our carry on
g/ will have to wait for the checked luggage which is going to follow on our original flight
