it started last night
i was a bit dizzy
just couldn't really walk straight
but i didn't say anything
after all
it was the last night
and i had been drinking
(tho not THAT much)

woke up and
WHOA
i can't stay upright for more than 20 minutes without feeling as if i am going to pass out

i pack a bit and lie down
then i try for something to eat
that clearly isn't going to work
aside from having no appetite
i am extremely nauseous

i manage a banana
¼ piece of toast
and a little wedge of cheese
(this is all i will eat for the next 36 hours)
and go back to bed

the rest of the morning continues like this
up for 20 minutes to pack
down for 20 minutes
and so on
friends arrive from a village about an hour away
from my old building, who i haven't seen in a while
but i am too sick to go down to say hello

we have to leave for the airport around 3
as i get into the car
barely coherent
i tell john that there is a 30% chance we'll be back
i really am not sure that i can make it home

i have one out...
once i get to la
i don't have to do that lest leg, i can go stay at my brother's.

i really know what you meant
and i loved the photo (hooded horse)
i have never been a tourist myself, i just lived in different places/countries studying and/or working, so i could really live these places + people and feel the places,as you say
what i meant was : -in the tropics planning means things will work out as they should...even if YOU do the planning;
-everything is exhausting due to many factors, as lack of good transportation,bad roads,the heat+humidity,enormous distances ( you are used to big distances,covered easily )
the beautiful part,which is everywhere, is also exhausting because of their brilliance,the immense differences and contrasts for the rest of the world and so on

the bad parts can even be hilarious...after a while
