on the way up we stopped to buy corn at a roadside stand
but it wasn't a roadside stand
it was a full blown nursery with fountains & furniture and a gift shop
the green houses were immaculate
and everywhere were huge urns that were beautifully arranged.
the gift shop was enticing and the vegetables flawless

at first, i wanted to buy everything
explore all the possibilities
but we had started out late and were still an hour away

but even before we left
the false notes started ringing
those vegetables were obviously from a real farm
and had been carefully chosen,
everything was just a little too perfect
and
a lot too precious
