our friends richard & peter
have a tradition
of a halloween spaghetti dinner
for the neighborhood

richard has been a close close friend
for over 40 years
but strangely
i can never remember the circumstances of their wedding
tonight i found out why...

they were married on halloween
4 (or 5) years ago
(richard wasn't sure)
they had rented out their home in park slope
so the party had migrated to a neighbors
hence we weren't there

they had their license
it was about to expire
so peter
(unbeknownst to richard)
had gotten their friend and neighbor honor
(coincidentally, an old schoolmate of mine)
to do the honors

so they got married
with very few friends and family present

i am so relieved to find the reason why
i have such a big blank
about their wedding
