i was thinking a lot about circles and cycles today
for many different reasons
and i was thinking that sometimes
when you are at an end
if you look back to the beginning
you see how it never could have been different
how it always was the same
how the pattern was set
how the story was told
from the very start

and if you can see this
and if you want it to change
then you must change what you do
in relationship to the whole

but then it is no longer familiar,
and then you can't know the outcome;
or whether it will be better or worse,
you just know that it will be different
that you will be released from the circle
that it will continue as a cycle
that spirals
both outward with energy
and inward towards truth


i am much better at this in my studio
than i am in the rest of my life
