and as soon as my brother had solved his dilemma,
he came back to me
to share the things he had discovered
about aspects of our growing up
which he felt would help me to see
the issues i am dealing with
from a different perspective

and he had an assignment for me:
to take a specific voice,
(the voice of our father actually)
and put a form to it
create something that embodies this tyrant
that has such a death grip on my psyche

and from that conversation
i went back into the studio
for the first time in months
and started painting again

and
i am happy to say
this felt very right to me
to be with the paint,
felt very right

this painting is not that voice
but it is the beginnings of something else.
