one of the very last pictures of smudge this morning
before i took her to be put to sleep

i know,
she looks so alert
and alive
which she was
but she was also in pain
and 2 nights ago she came to me to show me how bad her paw had gotten,
i really believe she was asking for help
and that made my decision easier.

a vet once said to me:
it is a good thing to prolongue life
but you don't want to prolongue death
i felt we had crossed that line.
