i come back here,
periodically over the years,
to visit the house,
my parents built
and where i spent
many summers

this year
i almost thought it was gone...
it's the first time i've made this "pilgrimage"
since Sandy
and so
had never seen it raised so high

the deck used to be about 5 feet off the ground
now it's easily 10
but the house is intact
and seemingly unchanged
