we celebrate Martin Luther King's birthday
(which is actually the same day as mine)
on the 3rd Monday of the month
this year,
ironically,
it fell on inauguration day
what an insult

i went to a protest
and haven't watched any of it
though i have heard enough revolting things
that confirm my worst fears

to the right,
inauguration days past
it's going to be a rough 4 years
the anxiety and horror of it all
is returning
