yes, that is how it is here
even when i was a child.
we lived on the 2nd floor, facing east
we had a long apartment and my mother had trees & ferns and all sorts of plants
in every window
very few people did that in those days

a new apartment building went up that was 1 block east and 2 blocks south
and most of our plants died
there just wasn't enough light any more

so, i have lived with this my whole life
and it is always painful
