this is our lilac,
for years
in an effort to get enough sun,
it grew, bending towards the center of the garden
blocking one's walk to the back,
now that we have opened the garden up to more light
(as in "took down trees")
we have braced it so that it will (hopefully)
grow more upright and not block the path
