my own private hell...2
by animus on April 22, 2006

so new project:
welcome to my own private hell

one of the major tasks looming ahead of me
(hopefully sooner rather than later)
is packing up 25 years of my life

as anyone who has been coming here for a while knows,
i have a lot of stuff
and i make a lot of work
and somehow i have to deal with that

also, many of you know,
that while i am a bit of an organizational freak
i don't particularly like flickr
but things i don't like are always a challenge to me
and every once in a while i have an urge to do a project there
and then i ask
"why?
i am just going to hate how it looks"

well, today i figured it out
instead of using my old database
that i built for keeping track of my stuff
(both art & household)
i am going to use flickr

i am going to photograph everything i pack
post it
make a set for each box
and tag the shit out of it
so i will know where EVERYTHING is

and somehow
i have some weird idea
that this could be art
(with a very small "a")
unless someone else thinks it is
and then it gets the big "A"

now this is either sheer brilliance
or i have just guaranteed that i will finally have that nervous breakdown i've been toying with.

i loved the idea !
i didn't like flickr myself, but i am in another "shelf " cannot make a comparison..
i didn't like ( maybe ) because i had to learn how to deal with it and through a brazilian-dial up connection system...it would be too much nervous strengthen...
but your idea is simply fantastic !
hope i can see you+your stuff over there.
all the best

You are a hero! With a big H.
Coping with your private hell and at the same time making art of it. With the big A as far as I'm concerned.
I worry for you though. Please don't get burned!

OXO

Sorry, I am nobody, again (wanted to say something without loggin in first)

nobody said it
so does no one man :D

oh baby, i find it a great project both artistically (with big huge A) speaking as well as to help you up with coping and organizing your mind, via tagging it and the stuff itself...

well, tell me... i know perfectly that feeling and be detached to be prepared that some lots of things will have to find their way back into the world (not talking about trashing). at least you do not need to ship stuff, load your luggage with exaclty what is allowed and worry to pay extra weight when you're boarding (it is always the case with me)

so please cool down, this will and can be fun altough tiring. the other side of it you did not think about even yet. the unpacking can take ages as well...

don't worry about the media, the glossy album will be an instrument in this case and nevertheless you'll be afterwards fond of the results and we will be grateful you are sharing this process which i am sure will look great no matter where, and there, in this cas it is the place.

whenever you feel like having your breakdown, count on me. i'll freak out too :DDDDD and that can feed a lot of interesting genuine art!

looking forward to follow u there.
yours, ever...gato
oh, i wish i could physically help
