there must be a huge shelf running the length of the island because after the 40 odd years that i have been going there, in the past 2 hardly any shells and basically no stones get washed up on the shore

this is so sad for me

i am not sure if it's a natural occurrence or something that has been done in an attempt to keep the island (which is really only a sand bar) from being reclaimed by the sea

i did find 2 broken clamshells
(i found only 1 in 4 weeks last year)
i'll try to take that as a sign
