when i first discovered these caterpillars on my tomato plant
i plucked them off in fear that they would do great damage
akin to the destructiveness of the deadly hornworm

i brought them down to the studio to photograph them
they were not at all interested in anything that i had on the plate for them
including a tomato and some leaves

you can see them at the bottom on the rim of the plate, considerably smaller than they are today
