maybe it is less that they don't care
and more that they have become disconnected
disconnected from their hands and their heart

my mother says that soon
(and maybe it is now)
the only people who will be able to work,
to garden & farm,
to make things with their hands
to be physically involved with creating the simple things that sustain life
will be the very rich

and these are the same things
that keep the connection

i think it's true that we are becoming disconnected from the things that matter most. corporate farms are quickly replacing family farms and the very rich become wealthier, but the workers, the poorest, are the ones whose hands still feel the rich damp warmth of the earth; they are the ones who witness and understand the cycle of life. surely it is the meek who will inherit the earth....and obdada, the messages of redemption, forgiveness, sacrifice and unconditional love will surely outlast the easter bunny....happy easter!
